Lecturer at Edinburgh Napier University and part time PhD student.

Tom lectures on IMD09104 Digital Storytelling at Napier University. He is interested in the use of transmedia storytelling techniques in advertising, and teaches around this subject. Tom also has an  interest in interaction as an expressive form and link's this to storytelling in his own physical work creations.  The Aide Memoire (2009) created by Tom, was a bakelite box containing personal stories of a fictitious  family; participants listened to recordings from family members, they could tune in and out of stories like in radio, and they could augment stories with sound effects.  The piece was showcased at Sonica Experimental Arts & Sound Festival in Slovenia. Tom’s current PhD is researching 'The Experience of Interactive Art is Appropriation.' He's exploring the nature of appropriation and its relationship to interactive technology, specifically within the field of interactive art.
