Christine Wilks

Digital writer, artist and developer of playable stories

Christine Wilks saw her digital fiction, Underbelly, win the New Media Writing Prize 2010 and the MaMSIE Digital Media Competition 2011. Her work is published and exhibited internationally, appearing in anthologies of electronic literature, online journals, conferences and festivals, and at her own site, crissxross. Christine’s practice-based PhD research explores using expressive processing to create a character-driven playable narrative. Since a playable character must be constructed in code, she is researching how the properties and processes of programming in Javascript can be used as functional metaphors to represent the psychological make-up of fictional characters and their dynamic interpersonal and extra-personal relationships.
