Collaboration with Scottish International Storytelling Festival - Sunday October 20th

RIDERS joins Once Upon a Journey to inject interactive storytelling into a great mix of workshops on offer at this years Scottish Storytelling festival in Edinburgh. The future of interactive narrative remains an exciting challenge with still no definitive best approach for this format. That's what makes it so exciting, explored in academia, experimented with, in new media development teams, it is a zeitgeist; infiltrating all storytelling platforms from gaming to cinema to education - but what do we really mean when we say interactive storytelling?

Assistant Professor Hartmut Koenitz of Mass Media at the University of Georgia, flys all the way from the USA to try to answer that. Koenitz joins Heriot Watt University's own Professor Ruth Aylett and Dr Sandy Louchart of try to demystify the theory behind the concept. They will give a talk, followed by some hands on learning using a dedicated tool to help you create your very own interactive digital narrative. At the close of day, you even get a free pen drive to take away with you documenting your IS tale and authoring software, so there really is no end to how often you can create new interactive stories for yourself.

There are a few complimentary tickets to give away for this event for our RIDERS members - if you would like to attend this afternoon workshop, which takes place on Octobe 20th from 1pm - 4.45pm, please notifiy v.m.macdonald@hw.ac.uk - it's first come, first served!
